The Third Person Intro…
The Silent Sage is the personal blog of Beena Reyes who blogs about Korean, Japanese and Filipino things that affect her daily life as a student and a Filipino. She wants to be a real journalist someday. Well, after she’s become a Chief Information Officer, that is. So please be considerate for all the journalistic (or close) writings she’ll be posting in this blog.
In Full Detail…
Beena Reyes is a 16 year-old incoming college freshman at the Ateneo de Manila University and will be taking up BS Management Information Systems. She proudly graduated High School from Brightwoods School, Angeles City and is a true Brighton.
She is born to a Kapampangan father and a Bicolana mother. She has a sister and two annoying brothers. The three most important to her are God, her family and her friends. She admits to be reserved and would not speak unless spoken to. Only when she is in the presence of her friends does she become a satirist and would speak in wits to make her friends speechless. In local Filipino slang, she loves to sakat / bara her friends. In four words: “Introvert outside. Socialite within.”
Her true passion is in the art of writing prose. Only in writing does she become outspoken. Several of her writings have been published in the school paper of her former school. She has been Managing Editor of The Brighton, the official High School paper of Brightwoods School, in her senior year. Upon graduation, she was awarded the President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Award for Campus Journalism. She has also won 1st Place in the U.P. Aguman – Sining 2008 On-the-Spot English Essay Writing Competition.
Being a loyal reader of the Harry Potter books, her liking for the said book has not only drawn her to love the Ron and Hermione ship but also the British languages and culture.
She also enjoys studying History as much as a gamer enjoys playing video games. She expresses enthusiasm when faced with different languages and cultures therefore making her choose BA Linguistics as her first-choice course in the University of the Philippines – Diliman. Although she passed the said university with her dream course, she still chose to study in the Ateneo.
Regardless of her passion for different cultures and languages, Korea is still the country she would like to experience the most when time comes. Having been drawn to attention by its entertainment industry, language, culture and food, she is determined to set foot in the Land of the Morning Calm for long and is even studying the language to help her in making this dream come true.
This is “About” page is self-written by the author and this blog is a mere manifestation of the author and her passion as a whole.
I’ve always been labelled “quiet” by people. This is in gratitude of me always in deep thought (well, not always deep). A sage is just an artier term for a philosopher, thinker, scholar. Plus, it’s only four letters – great for a URL. And lastly, whenever I play MMORPGs, say Ragnarok Online, I would always end up being a Sage or anything of that sort.

Hi! Thanks for dropping by my site. Thanks for the compliment as well.
You are the first batchmate I ever bumped into in the blogosphere. Moreover, you are a Filipino as well!
I will link your blog to mine and hopefully, we could build a community of “wise bloggers” someday!
If you don’t mind me saying, your ABOUT page will be better if you will use a brighter picture.
